Overview
Prometheus is an open-source monitoring & alerting solution that collects metrics data and stores it in a time-series database. Prometheus collects metrics by scraping targets who expose metrics through an HTTP endpoint.
The folks at SoundCloud created it, and in 2016 it joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation.
Prometheus’s core features include:
- PromQL – Flexible query language
- Collects data via a pull model
- Multi-dimensional model
- Targets can be defined statically or learned dynamically via service-discovery
- Built-in dashboarding & visualization
- Generating Alerts/Notifications via AlertManager
This course will give you a strong foundation for installing, configuring, operating and managing a Prometheus server. In addition, it will help you prepare for the Prometheus Certified Associate(PCA) exam. Each topic will contain an in-depth lecture and a hands-on lab to reinforce what was covered during the lecture.
